Common procedures we offer:
Bloodwork and urinalyses: we use in-house analyzers which allow us to attain same day chemistry, CBC, and urinalysis results when necesaary. Other more extensive testing is outsourced to reputable reference laboratories. Our urine samples are often obtained by ultrasound-guided cystocentesis.
Ear and skin cytology: Performed in-house to determine the prescence and type of infection via microscopy. This allows for the proper medications to be sent home with you the same day.
Nails and Tails - Nail trims and anal gland expression. We catch them coming and going.
Dentistry
A staged dentistry is better for your pet.
We do periodontal treatments (dental procedure) in two stages. The first stage includes cleaning, radiographs and a diagnostic evaluation. The doctor will then be better able to assess the overall condition of your pet's mouth. We will then formulate a plan for any dental work your pet may need to bring them back to optimum health. It is possible during this stage there will be necessary mobile (wiggly teeth) extractions.
The second stage, if necessary, would include any surgical extractions, and/or oral surgery (for example an oral mass removal). There is no additional charge for the follow up anesthetic induction and preparation needed for your pet to get the care they need. A second cost of care evaluation will be presented after the doctor has evaluated your pet's dental x-rays, and has established a treatment plan.
We are frequently asked about dental cleaning while the patient is awake. Much of the disease process in your pet's mouth is below the gum-line affecting the roots and can only be assessed with full radiographs and probing which cannot be done while your pet is awake. Access to your pet's entire mouth for an examination and thorough cleaning can only be done under anesthesia.
